Meditation For Women

Create a Practice You Can Grow With and Love

meditation for womenThe Persian poet Rumi wrote “This being human is a guest house, every morning a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes an an unexpected visitor. Welcome and entertain them all!”

For me, this is the main benefit of having a meditative practice. Life is hard. Stuff happens: unpleasant stuff, emotional stuff, challenging stuff. When the good stuff is happening we happily ride that wave, but when the bad stuff happens it’s easy to get knocked over and tossed up onto the sand. Ouch…

The benefit of having a more regular practice of meditation is so your surf board stays more firmly beneath your feet. It gives you something to stand on when things get rocky and slippery. It gives you a place to rest so you have stamina to deal with “the slings and arrows” of life.

It also can feel like a wonderful vacation — a vacation from thinking! No packing, no airport lines, and very, very cost effective!

With so much emphasis in most parts of our lives to do, accomplish, check off items on lists and “make good use” of your time, it’s rare to simply be. It can even feel unnatural if you’re used to going all the time and rarely taking time to step away from your planner and  your devices.

It’s also the most natural thing in the world. We just don’t have much, well, practice at simply being.

Many Paths, One Destination

There are so many ways to meditate, and it’s not a one-size-fits-all proposition. I am less interested in teaching you one specific way than in helping you to find your way. That’s why I’ve created this home study course; so you can be led through a variety of practices and get support in creating something that truly works for you.

It’s not magic, but it is magical. When you learn to be gentle with yourself and allow everything to be as it is, that’s real meditation. It’s not necessarily about sitting down and having your mind empty of thoughts (good luck with that!) — it’s about letting the thoughts move through and not getting caught up in them.

Trust me, if you need them they’ll still be there after your meditation period is done. The good news is, becoming more effective in dealing with thoughts — especially troubling ones — is one of the most delicious fruits you will harvest from your practice.

MFWguideIn this home study course, you will receive:

  • A beautifully written guidebook introducing you to and laying out the practices. It’s like having me there to walk you through with a powerful flashlight and clear map. {I was a First Class Girl Scout, after all!}
  • MP3 downloads leading you through 3 key meditative practices: mindfulness, loving-kindness and a relaxing body scan.
  • SPECIAL BONUS: Two weeks of private email access — 10 am-6 pm Monday-Friday — so I can help you through any challenges, clarify any sticky areas, and celebrate your learnings and insights {celebration and acknowledgement are key components of mindful living}.

Imagine…a guided meditation retreat you can enjoy any time! There may be days when you want to really dig in, set aside a few hours and take yourself through each of the meditations, journaling and reveling in your experience as you go.

You can also choose to work with one form of meditation in 15 minute chunks over the course of several days. Or, simply let yourself be guided through the deeply relaxing body scan on those days when you just want to sink into the couch and veg out — sink into the wisdom of your body instead and feel the rejuvenating difference being deeply present to yourself offers.

Once you’ve downloaded the components onto your computer or mobile device, they are available for you to use in a variety of ways that will support and enhance your developing practice.

This guide is guaranteed to give you the tools and inspiration you need to begin and maintain a practice that truly fits who you are; you will have what you need at your fingertips whenever you’re ready to make a positive shift.

If we were to work together one-on-one for a meditation retreat, it would cost about four times as much — with this home study version, you get to take a retreat of any length at any time!
