The Heart of Self-Care supports professional women who long for more balance and flexibility as they serve others.

We offer self-care classes, spiritual healing and counseling, therapeutic massage, Reiki sessions and classes, as well as products that enhance mindful, balanced living.

Does your natural desire to help others leave you feeling overextended and disconnected from your own needs?

Are you hungry for a way to downshift from the increasingly frantic pace of life?

You spend so much of your life helping other people. You may be a healer or psychotherapist with a busy practice, or a full-time mom with a full-time job.

Perhaps you are the person who, no matter what your daytime hours consist of, everyone else seems to count on for assistance, solace, and support. Giving to others in this way fulfills you and feels like an intrinsic aspect of who you are.

Still,
you find that your desire to be of service to others is overshadowing your ability to stay focused on what it takes to remain comfortably connected to your own needs.

Take heart

You can...

  • learn how to identify the factors that contribute to overwhelm and keep you from making self-care an integral part of your life.

  • develop an inner guidance system that will give you undeniable clues about when to give and when you need to receive.

  • begin taking small steps that will have a huge impact on your ability to deal with the inevitable stresses and overwhelming aspects of life.
"Sharon has a way of meeting individuals exactly where they are. When I first met her I was a young graduate student filled with angst, stress and anxiety who just needed a massage. I received a session with her as a gift and she showed me compassion and loving-kindness while massaging and manipulating my very tense body. Years later, after a short "starter marriage" and religious conversion I returned to her for what I knew would be a skilled massage. Again, she met me with open arms but also with support and advice about how to take care of my spiritual and emotional needs at the time.

Now, as the mother of two young children, I trust that when I make an appointment to see her I will be received with Sharon's smiling face and warm heart. She responds to my needs at that moment and I feel like I always leave with a gift beyond the bodywork or kabbalistic healing-- a new idea or suggestion, encouragement, a helpful book or product, or just her empathetic ear.

Sharon is easy to trust. She shares enough of her own vulnerability to life's challenges that I never feel judged, but received with empathy and understanding. At the same time, Sharon is open, warm and giving in a way that feels very "clean"-- meaning that she practices appropriate boundaries with her clients. I don't ever feel like she feels sorry for me or that she wants to "fix" me. She emanates a trust that I am whole the way I am in that moment, that things will unfold the way they are supposed to, and that she simply is a witness to that process. She inspires and reminds me of the importance of self-care, and for that I am ever grateful."
