The Challenge of Self-Care
We’ve all seen them, on magazine covers and in catalogs that tout the benefits of yoga, holistic health and wellness those people who are waking up every morning and starting their day with a half hour of meditation, an hour of yoga or a brisk walk, then a cup of herbal tea and fresh fruit with yogurt for breakfast.
They all look so dewy, so calm, so focused and, well, balanced! As if every moment of every day of their life is just like the one captured in the photo you’re looking at in awe or longing (or perhaps anguish!), with a sink full of dishes and a basket of laundry that needs to be folded and put away taunting you from across the room.
You are sure that you don’t have the time or the wherewithal to put one more thing on your list. But have you considered that it may not be about what you are or are not doing, but how you are being in your doing? Consider all of the time you spend worrying and fussing over things that are truly low on your list of priorities. You know there is a better way, yet the path isn't always clear.
If you are doing most daily tasks simply to get through them and get them done, or if you are spending more time than you know feels healthy in front of the TV, you are missing some perfect moments for self-care. If you can remember times when you did stop to take some deep breaths, stretch, or sit with an inspirational book, you know that those few moments in time gave you a chance to approach your next moments from a shifted perspective.
It’s not impossible to build more of those moments into your life, and to have small moments lead naturally to bigger moments. You know in your heart that this is true, and yet you aren’t quite sure how to go about it.
If you want to get a sense of what is possible, start by reading and working with the concepts in Keeping a Peaceful Heart in an Anxious Age. It will give you a healthy taste of heartful self-care.

I have been an extremely happy client for approximately 11 years. That time span alone speaks for itself!
But the full experience of working with Sharon is also the holistic approach to health that she has given me in advice on all aspects of my health, including mental and spiritual.
She is a gift.
